Just Before Election, Dirty Tactics Against Life

Woman mocking Church at rally
Fighting against a prolife ballot measure in North Dakota, Planned Parenthood and cronies are exercising their free choice to use dirty tactics.  This week has been especially blatant.  They don’t even have an office in North Dakota but they have poured $1.5 million (96% of total donations) to fund the opposition North Dakotans Against Measure 1 (NDAM1).

The big bucks are being spent to spread lies in an attempt to defeat the measure which would add these words to the state constitution: “The inalienable right to life of every human being at any stage of development must be recognized and protected.”  It will not make law.  It will simply give constitutional support to legislation that regulates abortion. This will prevent pro-abortion groups from getting laws overturned as unconstitutional.

They have been lying to the point of getting sloppy.  This week, ND Choose Life served a “Cease and Desist” letter to all the TV stations in the state to stop airing a new ad released by North Dakotans Against Measure 1.  It claimed the measure would “ban all abortions.” The foolish thing is that on their own website, they have a position paper stating Measure 1 could not “nullify the landmark abortion case Roe v Wade and Planned Parenthood v Casey…” Their own legal advisor’s analysis said the same thing.  And then they went and made a commercial that contradicted what they had publicly acknowledged.  By the next day, the TV stations, following their duty under the Federal Communications Commission rules, pulled the commercial.
Throughout the campaign and including this week, ND Choose Life has invited their opponents to debate on radio programs.  All invitations have been declined.
40 Days for Life vigil outside Fargo abortion clinic
On Tuesday of this week, several North Dakota State University students in Fargo held a gathering to make phone calls asking voters to oppose Measure 1.  The group kicked off the evening with supper and a social at the abortion clinic.  They ate a meal and socialized in the same place where babies are killed!  By the next morning--the weekly abortion day at the Red River Women’s Clinic--abortions began.

During their phone calls, the lies continued intended to scare people into thinking Measure 1would take away everyone’s ability to make end-of-life decisions and that IVF would become illegal.  They know that’s not true, and Planned Parenthood is involved in neither issue, but false stories and fake concern is their main tactic against Measure 1.
A few days ago,  there were anti-Measure 1 rallies in Fargo and Bismarck.  In both cities, later that same evening, many “Yes Measure 1” signs were slashed and stolen.

Many signs slashed and stolen

Also this week, the ND Choose Life office received a call from the CEO of the nursing home, Rosewood on Broadway, to report that thieves just stole their signs in front of the nursing home in broad daylight.
There is less than a week left before the election.  Many church pastors are imploring their congregations to do the right thing and vote to defend life.  Prayer days and vigils are being held.   ND Choose Life can still put donations to good use to air commercials and run for newspaper advertisements. And of course prayers to defeat the culture of death are always needed. To learn more or donate go to: http://ndchooselife.com.
