Message to Parents Who Took Kids to Miley’s Concert

Dear Parents,
Buying tickets to take your kids to Miley Cyrus’s “Bangerz” concert was not a waste of money.  No, that is too delicate a term.  What you did was make a down payment on the sale of your children’s souls.  I’m sad that you’ve lost your own and I pray that you find it, but can’t you love your children enough not to push them onto the road to perdition?
In spite of what one mother said after the concert in Anaheim, CA last week, Miley’s pornographic persona is not “empowering” for your daughter.  When a reporter for the nightly news interviewed parents coming out of the concert, one mother stated, “Miley is her own person, and that’s empowering for my 13-year-old daughter to see.”   How is grinding on an oversized hotdog and simulating sex on a dancer dressed as President Bill Clinton, in any way empowering for a 13-year-old girl?  Empower yourself and get a grip on reality!
One Dad told the reporter that he was prepared to leave if he thought anything was inappropriate but considered everything “pretty much” in good taste.  So he stayed and enjoyed the concert with his daughter and her friends.  Indecent costumes, sexual gyrations, and a big sign warning, "Parental advisory, explicit content” did not give him a clue?  Of course not, because only the clueless would go to a Miley concert.  Did it occur to you that it would be better for you to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around your neck than to cause little ones to stumble? (Luke 17:2)
Millstone
The New York Daily News reported that the raunchy porn show may be affecting sales and that Cyrus's management is said to have been "flooded" with complaint calls.  Apparently some parents complained that the tongue-wagging star went too far with the sexual innuendos during her 2-hour-long concert
If you were one of the parents that complained after the concert, that’s wonderful that you actually noticed evil when it slapped you in the face.  But seriously, you bought tickets for the sex-crazed, porn girl and were surprised by her show?  I did not know about the tour until I heard about it on the evening news.  But looking up information to write this, it was impossible to find anything related to the tour that did not contain Miley degrading herself.  I think that anyone that attended and then complained is a half-wit. She appeared nude on her Wrecking Ball video. Her name is now synonymous with twerking.  And you were surprised?
The body is beautiful, but exhibitionism is a psychiatric sexual disorder.  Miley is obviously disturbed to be so obsessed with sex, apparently allergic to decent pants, and unable to keep her tongue in her mouth.  Paying to watch her vulgar behavior just because she sings along with it means Miley is not the only one with the problem. You are in the same boat with her.  And it’s going down. There is a millstone tied to it.
Since you are a fan, maybe you can write Miley a letter and let her know that we get that she’s not the wholesome Hannah Montana.  She does not have to keep showing us.  That, and everything else.  Can’t she carry a tune anymore without the porn stunts?
Parents, dear lost parents, you can do better.  Reach higher for the sake of your children.  Teach them to pray, not to twerk.  Call on God to guide you.  I will pray for you and for Miley and I hope others will join me.
Here are a few short prayers to help you change course.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!  O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you.
Gracious St. Joseph, protect my family  and me from all evil as you did the Holy Family. Kindly keep us ever united in the love of Christ, ever fervent in imitation of the virtue of our Blessed Lady, your sinless spouse, and always faithful in devotion to you.  Amen.
